welcome to everyday studios

I wanted to box up the moment my son was born and hold onto it forever. Then I wanted to box up the next five minutes, and the next...
the only way I could really figure out how to do that was with a camera in my hand.
My passion for photography was born the day I became a mom.
I adore my trio of boys. They are my inspiration.

A Little Pumpkin Seed

One week old today, and perfectly sweet... little N slept away his entire first photo session. His mommy was all excited about all of the knits I brought along and he didn't seem to mind modeling them at all.

One week old and standing tall already... I first did this "magic" pose with my nephew last summer. N's mama is a colleague of my sister's and almost as soon as I walked into the door she requested that we make N stand tall just like baby S did as a wee little one before him. It landed on S's announcements, wonder if it will make N's?

Silly Faces and a long overdue apology

On many, many sessions we do silly faces when kiddos need a little pick-me up. The faces do not always make the final galleries, because, well some silly faces are a little scary and I'm usually making faces back so my focus is all wobbly on those shots. This little series though makes me happy. I love how little brother E looks to his sister for guidance before following right along. Mothering three boys and watching so many families through my lens has given me a new appreciation for the younger siblings in a family. And so I formally apologize for teaching my dear baby sister her alphabet in the wrong order. Um... it really is JK and not KJ... sorry!

Brown Eyed Girl

So everyone that has contacted me well after I announced I was booked solid this fall, knows all too well that I simply cannot say no. I'm seriously going to have to start though or I might never sleep again with all these late nights in front of the computer editing away. It is a very good thing that this little girl doesn't live in my house, because I'm sure I could never, ever, ever, ever say no to these eyes. She melts me.

Crush

First let me say how much I adore C and her entire family. I held her and her older siblings in my arms when they wee little babies and am amazed at how much and how quickly they have grown-up. Second I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the name of little miss C in my house this week, as my four year-old has developed an enormous crush on her. He told me just tonight that he is going to buy beautiful girl things for her for her birthday. Okay, so when asked those beautiful girl things do involve dinosaurs, but still he is smitten and it makes me nervous about what is in store as he gets older!.

And finally, I have yet to photograph anyone that loves the camera and posing as much as she does. I can click fast (all that have done a session with me know this, right?!?), but she can pose faster. This little series was snapped in about 20 seconds flat. Love, love, love her! She and I would be a dangerous team of photography frenzy if she lived closer than Texas. I guess you could say I have a photo-crush on her. ;-)

And here she is with her older siblings, love them. Cannot wait for them to get a vacation house in Ohio! Yes, they must sell those.

Farmer Boy

Visited my cousin's farm last night, and captured this image of her son standing tall at 6' 5". All grown-up and so hard working.

Goldilocks

I was following this little sweetie tonight on her family session, and just knew I had to grab an image of her golden locks. They are so lovely, just like her.

Welcome Baby A!

Beautiful little A is my last summer baby this year! While we didn't get her session in until fall had officially arrived, we still got outside for some summery shots in the crisp fall air. I had so much fun this summer, so it is only appropriate to send summer out with a standing ovation.
To see more from sweet A's session pop over to this this album on facebook.

Love her!

Little C is already seven months old. How time flies! I adore her and cannot wait for our one year session. Check facebook for a full preview from her session.

Images snapped in my home "studio" space. Really just my boys' rooms converted into photo spaces. This space is available for baby sessions one year and under.

Announcing Halloween Short and Sweets!, October 22

Click One, Newborn A

Some babies need a warm-up time, not sweet two-week old A... this was the first click off my camera. More to share from her session very soon!

Puppet Fun!

Look what we made today. Boys requested an animal, picked the colors and put me to work. It was fun. More to come... and I'm sure we could be talked into making and selling these for stocking stuffings this year. I sense my own etsy store coming soon. ;-)

Out for Lunch

Going out for lunch has taken on a whole new meaning in my life these days. Most of you know that photography was really only a little hobby out of control for me, and that I had a day job too. Well after 17 years of working in public libraries (the last 10 managing library technology) and countless lunches out with coworkers, I've traded that all in to be home with my trio during the day and run my photography business "full-time." Here's what my new lunches out look like...

Also realizing that this shirt that I'm loving on Etsy right now, really is my new professional wardrobe. Bye-bye Ann Taylor days officially for a while... pregnancies pretty much did in AT, but the fact that I'm eyeing this shirt the way I used to eye a finely cut suit jacket makes it official. Might bring out a few smiles on kiddo sessions, right?

To my previous lunch buddies who might be reading, please don't make yourself strangers. There is plenty of room on our picnic blanket for guests.

Shared giggles

Sisters, best friends and oh-so-many shared giggles over whispered secrets. Love these two together... outfits from Crazy 8. Super cute! Perfect place to shop for sessions, and this is how to do coordinating but not matching. Hint, hint to all my upcoming fall sessions! They have great prices too.

Not Yet

First day of fall is officially here, but the sweet summer feet in my house are not quite ready to give up summer. Neither is mother nature with the 80+ degree temperatures this week.

The Thinker Pose

There is this pose that so many of the photographers that I adore have mastered... and while it is not my favorite pose in the world for newborns I am baffled by how they seem to achieve it on each and every session. I've tried it now with at least 10 new babies and it eludes me.

For some reason I didn't try it with H when he was wee little and I figured the window for even attempting it had past. Tonight though, he was extra, extra sleepy all warm in his future halloween costume and his brothers were away at the park with daddy. So I figured what the hay... let's try it even with the lighting in his room fading all too fast. And look we kinda figured it out... pretty cute, huh?
Of course getting there was not quite as cute (unedited images). Oh, the life of a photographer's child. Poor boy!

An Apple Crisp Sunset

We visited Cherry Hawk Farm for apple picking this evening, a perfect way to spend a fall Friday evening. Highly recommend!

They just look more grown-up, so much so... now that the new little guy is here.

It didn't take long before apple picking turned to flower-for-mommy picking. Melt my heart with a handful of weeds.

My Everyday

... is chaos right now. I spend them chasing after two very active boys all day. They never stop, they always go. They move from sweet to plotting to kill one another in a matter of moments. Toss a new baby into the mix for a dose of insanity. Oh, but to spend an hour each day just watching him sleep. I don't get these hours everyday, but when I do it is bliss.

Yes, I'm alive!

In case there are any blog readers wondering what happened to my posts, the answer is facebook. I have been sharing all previews on facebook. I plan to continue to use facebook exclusively for previews and do a blog revamp at some point this summer.

Until then, please stop by the Everyday Studios Photography page on facebook.

Prim and Proper to Wild Child

In my pre-session tips I always say that a change of wardrobe is fun mid-way through. This is why! How else could I capture the two sides of sweet little B? From all prim, proper and extra sweet ....

... to wild child showing off all her sass, we snapped these about 30 minutes apart. Love her!

P.S. These "hot pants" as I've been calling them are one of my props, a splurge from Etsy. Should work for babies from about 6-12 months. Let me know and I can bring them along.

And excitedly, these were the first images I snapped on my brand new 5D, Mark II camera. Feeling spoiled by my new camera!

My Favorite Nephew, Eight Months Old

I still cannot believe sweet little Sam is 8 months old already. And look, he is sitting up so strong. This is a huge accomplishment for him since he had open heart surgery just over four short months ago. We are incredibly, incredibly proud of him and I was lucky enough to see him on Easter. We couldn't resist an impromptu mini session given the beautiful weather and his happy HUGE smile! Love him, adore him.
