In case there are any blog readers wondering what happened to my posts. The answer is facebook. I have been sharing all previews on facebook. I plan to continue to use facebook exclusively for previews and do a blog revamp at some point this summer.

Prim and Proper to Wild Child

In my pre-session tips I always say that a change of wardrobe is fun mid-way through. This is why! How else could I capture the two sides of sweet little B? From all prim, proper and extra sweet ....




... to wild child showing off all her sass, we snapped these about 30 minutes apart. Love her!





P.S. These "hot pants" as I've been calling them are one of my props, a splurge from Etsy. Should work for babies from about 6-12 months. Let me know and I can bring them along.

And excitedly, these were the first images I snapped on my brand new 5D, Mark II camera. Feeling spoiled by my new camera!

Camera Equipment for Sale

I'm looking yet again at upgrading some camera equipment and have the following for up for grabs.

> Canon 50D, $800 or best offer. Originally purchased new in May 2009 ($1100, plus extra battery). The camera is lightly used, it was my back-up camera the last year. I have original box, battery, charger, and an extra battery (value $50). Batteries still have excellent charge. I am searching for the manual, and might be able to find it. No promises, but manual is online or lots of books available.

> Canon Speedlight 430EX (flash), $175 or best offer. Originally purchased February 2008 ($250). I have used this flash 3-4x total. It is in new condition. I have the soft case and manual.

> Tamron 17-50mm, f2.8 Aspherical XR DiII lens for Canon, $250 or best offer. Originally purchased in February 2008 ($450). I have the lens hood, the Tiffen 67mm filter and the manual. Outside ring is loose (might be repairable, I have not checked). Lens still is great work condition. This was one of my first DSLR lenses and is a great versatile lens... wide angle and aperature for low ligt conditions. Used heavily for 6 months, and has been resting in my camera bag since I splurged on an L series Canon lens Christmas 2008.

My Favorite Nephew, Eight Months Old

I still cannot believe sweet little Sam is 8 months old already. And look, he is sitting up so strong. This is a huge accomplishment for him since he had open heart surgery just over four short months ago. We are incredibly, incredibly proud of him and I was lucky enough to see him on Easter. We couldn't resist an impromptu mini session given the beautiful weather and his happy HUGE smile! Love him, adore him.

Class of 2011!

The last of the wallets from class of 2010 will be picked up today. I will officially start booking class of 2011 in May. Sessions will be very limited for seniors since I will not be photographing late summer. Call or email to hold your session!

Uptown Baby, Baby A

I looooove urban session, and I so looooooove the warm weather we have had this weekend, and I super looooove six month old babies. Little A's session made me so happy. We met up on Saturday morning and walked a city block... me hauling a wagon full of fun little props and extras. It was just perfect, and check out his huge blue eyes and beaming smile!



And look at these adorable little chunky-monkey legs... already trying to go-go-go!


And probably my two favorite shots from the session, snapped right at the end. You can just tell how much his mama adores him. And what is better in life than being this adored?!?


This was the second in A's Watch Me Grow series! Cannot wait to see him for the third later this summer.

FINAL FOUR!

Spring is here! The forsythia in my yard is in bloom... really, truly my favorite flower. And I have just FOUR openings left for Out and About sessions this year. Openings are as follows:

April 25, OSU Campus 10a opening
May 2, Schiller Park, 9a opening
May 22, Homestead Park 10a opening
May 29, Downtown Columbus, 11a opening

Out and About sessions are $350 and include the high resolution disc with images for your own printing. Custom add-ons still available. Call or email to reserve your spot. These are the final family sessions for the year.

I do still have newborn openings and am working on a new super sweet series for individual kiddos and/or siblings.

For anyone that has already emailed about a fall date, you are on my calendar. All other fall inquiries will be added to a wait list depending on my return after our new baby.

Just the Sweetest, Newborn J

Eight days young and blissfully sweet, newborn J is already so adored. I had the honor of visiting and photographing him this morning. It feels like forever ago that his mama told me he was on his way... making today all the sweeter for me. I look forward to watching little J grow up.



And kisses from mama are the best.

Nothing Sweeter, Newborn C

Newborn babies just amaze me... and sweet little C, all nine pounds of her, was no expection. She has oodles and oodles of hair, and a true desire to be held and loved. I think I spent more time cuddling with her today than snapping pictures. She did not however, like my hats. So we missed on out a girly little flower hat in her images today. We'll save that for 6 month session.






And of course the most amazing thing about a newborn is that just a week ago she was snuggled so cozily in her mama's belly.

Cannot wait to see little C again this fall for the next in her Watch Me Grow series.

Snow-Kissed A

I know, know everyone is waiting for the weather to break for portraits... but there really is something oh-so perfect and gorgeously whimsical about all this snow! So happy I finally convinced someone to join in my snowy day dress-up fun. A is perfectly beautiful all snow-kissed.

Sweet M came to visit me today in my home/studio space. Her birthday was a couple of weeks ago, and we had to reschedule. I was so happy to finally meet her today. She was a little shy as babies can be around this age, but we did manage a couple of smiles mixed in with all those sweet serious faces.

Announcing 2010 Out and About Schedule!

Each Out and About session lasts approximately one hour and can include all members of your immediate family. Sessions have been designed to include fun locations throughout the Central Ohio area. The early spring sessions are designed around urban areas to avoid soggy ground and lingering mud, late spring/summer is full of my favorite park locations in the area. If you are the first to book for a given day, I am willing to negotiate on location. Session times are booked on the hour beginning at 9a for morning sessions and 5p for the evening session. Sessions are available as follows:

> March 6 morning, Downtown Columbus (Main Library and Topiary Garden area)
> March 20 morning, Downtown Powell
> April 10 morning, Historic Dublin
> April 25 morning, OSU Campus (two spots remain)
> May 2 morning, Schiller Park, German Village (one spot remains)
> May 15 morning, Highbanks Metro Park
> May 22 morning, Homestead Park
> June 5 morning, Ohio Wesleyan Campus (Delaware)
> June 11 (Friday) evening, Inniswood Metro Park
> June 13 morning, Park of Roses (one spot remains)

I have two package options for the 2010 Out and Abouts. The traditional print package starts at $349, and the digital option that includes a disc of high resolution images and other beautiful custom items starts at $549. Full package details are outlined on my website for Out and About sessions. Substitutions are available on packages. A $100 deposit holds the date/time spot, and is applied entirely towards the selected package. In the case of rain or inclement weather, rain dates will be made available.

Family C, Outside In January

It was a little muddy out there on Saturday, but wow so nice for a January day. Simply had to take Family C outdoors, and while we were hoping for a beautiful white snow cover the temperatures made up for it. How often will I ever get to a January session in Ohio with no bulky coats!?!

This top image is my instant favorite from their session. It belongs in a frame in their home for sure.

It is fun for me to watch the girls interact and play together. They really do play differently than my boys who seem to wrestle from morning until bedtime these days.

Newborn C, Lucky in Love

I am humbled to have the opportunity to photograph this beautiful baby girl. She was a mere 13 days old today and visited my studio space. She is so lucky to have such an amazing family that hopes to adopt to her. They radiate so much love together already. I'm excited for future sessions and the opportunity to watch C grow-up.

She stayed awake, happy alert, for the entire session nearly two hours. We tried to work on some sleepy pictures, but she was happy to stay awake and take in her surroundings. I don't think I've ever captured so many wide awake, happy shots in a newborn session.






And one of my personal favorite from her session. Baby C is so tiny. My boys were nearly full grown when they were born, so I always think tiny babies are extra sweet.
